Lawn bowling in Medicine Hat has a long history in Medicine Hat. The first club was down by the CPR tracks near where the Royal Canadian Legion is now. In 1953, the club moved to it's present location on the corner of Third Street SE and Division Avenue South (across from Swirls).
In the first few decades at our location, both lawn bowling greens were used extensively with games going on most of the day and into the night. It is said that people used to sit along the alley to watch matches.
The club began a slow and steady decline in the 1980s and 90s, with the club having all of nine members by the end of the first decade of the 2000s. The Wednesday night jitney was the only event the club hosted at that time.
However, lawn bowling is making a comeback in Medicine Hat. Until COVID hit, we were experiencing a steady increase in our membership. We now have 65 members and host a number of events.
