Sunshine Trolley

Historic Downtown

Hop on-board Medicine Hat’s Sunshine Trolley and explore Canada’s Sunniest City!

Sunshine Trolley tour loops have finished for 2023!

With your pass, you’ll ride around the city once to see just a few of the many historic and cultural landmarks. As always, children 12-and-under ride for free.

Bring your headphones!

The Sunshine Trolley Tour now features the Trolley Stories audio tour. Find your seat, scan a QR code, and enjoy stories told by the locals!

Explore Medicine Hat!

After meeting at the Visitor Information Centre, start your tour with a stop at Saamis Tepee to learn more about a significant piece of Indigenous history. Riders will then make their way to Kiwanis Central Park, where they can check out chainsaw art by local artist Marina Cole, as well as Moby Dick the Whale Slide.

After Kiwanis Central Park, riders will weave through Medicine Hat’s Historic Downtown before stopping near the Esplanade Arts & Heritage Centre. Take your time to check out the Ewart-Duggan House, the World’s Largest Chess Set, the GIANT King Piece, or the Esplanade Arts & Heritage Centre.

Next up is Medalta in the Historic Clay District, a key piece of the area’s history. After, riders will head to Strathcona Island Park, where Medicine Hat’s name came to be. While at Strathcona Island Park, riders can learn about Police Point Park, which sits just across the South Saskatchewan River.

Riders will begin their journey back to the Visitor Information Centre, with quick detours to check out River Road and Kin Coulee Park.

We take great care to ensure Medicine Hat’s Sunshine Trolley is always in tip-top shape. Occasionally we run-into unscheduled maintenance needs. This doesn’t happen often, but when it does, your safety is our priority!
