Come play North America’s fastest growing sport – CORNHOLE! Players take turn throwing bean bags at a board with a 6” hole. A bag in the hole scores 3 points, one on the board scores 1 point. Play continues until a team or player reaches/exceeds 21 points. Cornhole dates back to the late 1800’s and through the years variations of the game have been played under different names like Bean Bag Toss Game, Horseshoes, Bull’s Eye and Bags. The sport evolved primarily in the United States in the early 1980’s. Most people play at the cottage or tailgating outside a local sports venue. But the game is now played at a Pro level with events being televised on ESPN in the USA. Cornhole Canada (registered non-profit) was established in 2019 to provide governance and currently oversees 42 leagues across Canada, 10 in Alberta. The SouthEast Alberta Sundogs League was launched in 2023 and plays in the basement (AKA: The Dogpound!) of the Medicine Hat Legion . The 2024-2025 year begins in September with the Fall session (Sept-Dec) featuring mixed play on Wednesday evenings. New this Fall will be a dedicated Monday night Ladies League. Check out the poster for more details! Come on down to the Dogpound and check out this great sport! We know you’ll have fun throwing bags and maybe making some new friends in the bargain!
