Triathlon Alberta will host its Tri-It Camp at the Big Marble Go Centre in Medicine Hat on Saturday, January 28, 2023, for teens age 11 to 17.
During the camp, youth will be introduced to the sport of triathlon in a welcoming and non-competitive environment and will be exposed to a new potential interest or hobby that can be enjoyed for a lifetime. Teens aged 12 to 15 will also have an inside look into what it would be like competing in Alberta Summer Games.
Sebastian Porten, Executive Director, Triathlon Alberta says the Edmonton-based organization would like to grow the base in Medicine Hat and strengthen the sport province-wide to bring more events to the area.
“We really want to introduce the sport to youth and families in Medicine Hat, and would like to build a bigger base in all corners of the province to hopefully bring an event to them in the future,” says Porten.
Registration cost is $20.00 per participant. During the one-day camp, there will be a run session, swim session, and a skill building session.
“It is very enjoyable to see youth jump into a race for the first time and have that feeling of accomplishment. They look so happy and proud of themselves for testing their limits and putting what they’ve learned into practice,” says Porten.
