Market Season

Posted on : Friday, October 11, 2019

So its still fall, but the snow has come once or twice in Medicine Hat, it makes us think we should start thinking about all the amazing fall and holiday markets that are happening in the coming months. Whether you are looking for all your christmas gifts, or just a day out to find a favourite vendor and get something for yourself, because you deserve it. Fall & winter Market season is one of our favourites! So here are a few Markets to look forward to.

October starts the season off with a couple of great markets! It starts off with the Heartbreaker Fall Market on October 12th from 10 - 4pm. Lots of vendors to check out and a few fun prizes that you could win! Looks like a great way to kick off the market season!

The next one in October is on the 18 - 20th and is the Fall into Christmas Market at the Medicine Hat Exhibition and Stampede. Walk the rows of vendors, while spying some creative presents for everyone on your list...including yourself. There might even be some spook-tacular decor items to make sure your place looks perfect for Halloween!

October markets are top notch - and you get a head start on the holiday shopping. You might event get it all, wouldn’t that be a dream! Well if you still have some presents to get fear not because November is coming and it just might be the biggest market month of the year!

November is looking good for the seasoned market fan. There are lots to go to - and there are a few weekends where you could almost have a market tour!

The month starts with a great market right on the 1st and 2nd days of November. This is the Cloth, Colour & Clay at the Medicine Hat Cultural Centre. Stop in to check out what the Medicine Hat Fibre Arts Society, the Hat Art Club, and the Medicine Hat Potters Association have created in the last year. There will be lots of amazing handmade goods for all to see and buy. There will also be hot apple cider to enjoy as you walk around and view the art.

Weekend of the 8th and 9th of November is the Medicine Hat Exhibition and Stampedes Farmers' Christmas Market! Think of all the wonderful Farmers Market venders of the summer and now we can see all their amazing christmas crafts, treats and art! It will certainly be an awesome event!

After that on November 16th there are two markets to enjoy. One is the Shop Created Market at the Medicine Hat Exhibition and Stampede which features free admission and the first 50 shoppers are eligible to win a vendor shop credit! The other Market that shares a day is the Dunmore Christmas Market at F&S Safety Buzz! From 10am - 4pm you can get a bit more of the holiday shopping done! It will be a weekend of market madness - but just you wait, because the weekend coming up has even more markets.

Also on November 16th is the True North K9 'Pets and More' Christmas Expo! This is a Market that you can bring your pet to, and shop around with them! Amazing right. Its at Beveridge Landmark Events, and has some fun activities lined up. Including reindeer races, and pictures with Santa and your furry friends!

The weekend of November 22 & 23 is going to be a weekend for all people to enjoy Markets. There are 4 incredible markets this weekend - so you might want to do a full on Market Tour! It starts with Downtown Medicine Hat Midnight Madness, which is a great reason to be downtown - and as part of Midnight Madness you get to enjoy the Holiday Sip & Shop. Where you walk around the amazing Beveridge Building, sip some amazing beverages and shop the local items!

Also starting on the 22nd is Medalta’s Heritage Christmas Market. This market is always fun because the Artists in Residence usually have some pottery up for sale. So if you have a collector of coffee mugs on your list - this might be the place for you to shop! Also of note - during the market their museum is free of charge! So you can tour around this amazing National Historic Site.

Another anticipated market on the weekend of the 22nd is the Medicine Hat Holiday Market that is hosted at Medicine Hat Brewing Company. This one is filled with local makers and brands, local beer (imagine that) and a live DJ to add to the atmosphere! Since this market is in Medicine Hat Brewing Company it is an adults only event.

The other Market on November 23rd is the Heartbreaker Christmas Market, now you may have gone to the Heartbreaker Fall Market but this one will have the more christmas theme! Less spooky good, but still the same awesome door prize! Check out their vender list on facebook or here.

One more market to round out November and maybe even help you get those last few presents.  On November 30 and December 1st is the Something for Everyone Market at the Medicine Hat Exhibition & Stampede Grounds. Head over to find that perfect handmade item, and bring the kids to meet the Something for Everyone Market Elf - they might just get some goodies.

Into December is the Enerplus Olde Tyme Christmas Fair & Farmers Market at the Medicine Hat Exhibition and Stampede on December 5th. This is surely a classic and as such has been around for 10 years! They have lots of fun free activities and snacks, like hot Chocolate, smores, photos with Santa, tours through Pioneer Village and so much more - like of course the Market! Its going to be a good one folks.

Looking for a night out? Here is one for you! Its called Travois Ale Mom's Night Out Market Style! Happening on December 6th and should be a great night to do some sipping and some shopping! Check it out on facebook.

Keeping the holiday cheer alive all December is the Beef & Pen Show and Cowboy Christmas Tradeshow on December 20 & 22!
COWBOY CHRISTMAS TRADESHOW Friday 4pm – 9pm | Saturday 9am – 5pm

Wrap up your last minute Christmas Shopping with Jewellery, Baking, Candles, Saddles, Western Tack, Leather Gloves, Wooden Toys! Will be a wonderful place to get those last few gifts!

Just like that we are over fall and holiday markets, any we missed? Let us know, we want to go to them all - and help you get there too. Also we couldn’t help but notice that the weekend of November 22 & 23 might just be the best weekend yet! Four markets and Midnight Madness - yah we are a tad excited.
